BE - The Colour of Everington

Wow, I sure took my sweet time on this picture xD

It's been like months since I first sketched this one!

So, yes, anyhow. As many of you who pay attention to me long enough will know, I'm quite the big Billy Elliot Fan and it was during my recent obsession with the film that I got my 10,000th hit (which, let's face it, is a pretty big deal seeing as my art is, well, nothing to write home about!) So, I decided that I'd do a big peice of artwork themed around Billy Elliot to celebrate.

My first thoughts were to do a picture based around my slowly (very slowly!) coming together fanfiction based around Michael (naturally...) called 'Dancing like nobody's Watching' [link]

So with that in mind I started sketching Michael sitting in an arm chair reading the letter Billy had sent him telling Michael he was to return to Everington for Christmas. But then, I changed my mind again and decided I really wanted to draw Michael during one of his daydreams. So I put Michael in a dress and used to top half of the peice really to show the thoughts cunjured up from Billy's letter. Yes, those black people ARE meant to be Billy dancing xD

I am quite pleased with this, especially since I rarely sit down and draw a background for a peice of artwork. I'm pleased with how Michael came out especially, I love how he's the sort of middle man in between the bright 'colour of everington' (I can't eb btohered to explain that xD Read my fanfiction, it'll become clear -hinthint-) and the dullness of his kitchen work surface. I also added in various mud stains and grazes onto Michael's skin to show that he wasn't just a camp little gay boy, which let's face it wouldn't suit his character and/or setting in the slightest, but just a normal lad who happened to take a liking to dressing up.

Well, that was a bit of an epic ;D Have fun reading that.
